What is the single most important truth that you know? - Alana

The most important truth I know?

It's darkest before the dawn. - J. Blagojevic

Now a question for all of you!

This pertains to my answer to Mr. Humphrey's question, so:

Why do YOU think it's darkest before the dawn, or do you even think that saying is true?

  1. I do believe the saying is true, quite true.
Both in a figurative and literal[duh] aspect. :) I don't quite think I could thoroughly explain as to why I believe it is true because I do not fully understand why I do. I do comprehend though, that typically after the "height of a storm" it can only get better. There's no other choice. After the darkness, it cannot stay dark forever. There has to be light.

Figuratively, mind you all. Not scientifically.

  2. Not true. It can always get darker. But it does tend to balance out, so usually, it will be darkest before the dawn. Actually, I think the real trouble is that you don't know when it's darkest -- the moment before the darkest moment seems like the darkest, because up until that point, it is. But actually, the next moment is the darkest moment. So while it may be darkest before the dawn, you won't know it until you're looking back from the sunshine.

  3. Why is it always darkest before dawn? Well, because you wouldn't get that great feeling when you're favorite character is about to die or civilization is about to end, when suddenly Sirius Black jumps our with Tonk and Lupin, or when Gandalf comes with the dawn, or such other stories, it just wouldn't be fun without it.

  4. Well because who wants to believe that its just a usual dark before the dawn thats boring theres got to be some weird cool thing like its darkest before it gets light so that we can sit here and ask questions about it.

  5. It's darkest before the dawn. It always seems like it always takes forever to get an answer for something that I need. So to me this quote means that sometimes you have to wait it out until you can't wait any longer to get the "revelation" you want/need to make you a better person.

  6. Is there a moon in this darkness before dawn? If there is, then it isn't very dark for me. I have a pretty good night eye.

Yes the darkness can always get darker, but darkness can never last forever. unless you live on there earth of the matrix, but then you're just messed up. Darkness is often something we just don't understand. Many creatures live in darkness for most or all of there lives. Humans are afraid of the dark because we cant see in it.

If you find the eye of the hurricane, you're safe. Just as if you are in a hurricane of hurt and you find your safe hiding place. Sometimes, when all is too much for me, I go somewhere and have a good cry. and then I feel better. I know that doesn't sound manly so bite me, but it works.

  8. It is darkest before dawn, because the light has been gone longer.

  9. I think its darkest before dawn, because sometimes life is dark, but no matter what, dawn will always break through.

  10. Um, I don't really understand the question. I'v never heard the saying 'It's darkest before the dawn.' So, I'm sorry I don't understand this. Hopefully someone can enlighten me?

  11. i think that it's true because right before dawn, before you finish the day or whatever you are doing, you are at that point where you want to give up so badly, it's your darkest hour.

  12. I actually don't really get why people say that. Obviously it's darker when there is no sun in the sky.

  13. I think that mostly that is true, most things get worse before they get better.

  14. I believe it's true, that is the natural fluctuation of life. And I'm also quite fond of the saying because it reminds me of Lord of the Rings, and I am a hardcore geek at heart.

  15. I don't understand that quote. It's like stating a fact... Of course it's going to be darker with no sun.

  16. I suppose it's darker because the sun has been down longer.

  17. Okay it seems like a lot of us have said this but - it will always be darker with no sun. Maybe it means, things are going to be worse before they get better.

  18. I'm going to be boring and plain and say what everyone else has said already, of course it is. There is no sun!

  19. that is just the way nature seems to make things.
