Why do some people let their self esteem, and immage ride on if they can make others laugh? This seems to be that these people are setting themselves up for failure, because you can't please everybody all the time....
I don't know. I think part of it is just loving to make people laugh, whereas another part is just that you like to see people be happy. I know those are my reasons.
But how do you know if you're doing well if you don't have any feedback from anyone? It's all fine and good to consider yourself the final authority on your own success, but you still need to have a meterstick to measure yourself by, an example to live up to. That comes from other people. One way to find that measuring scale is to gauge your success by other people's responses to you. We all do it to some extent, and some who want to be funny do it with jokes.
