Superstitions. Luck. Do they exist, or rather, will what rumors say what will happen, happen(in the case of superstitions.) I think not. If you walk under a standing ladder, do you have bad luck for ___(insert # of years here) really? What is luck? The following are two definitions of Luck
1.The force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person's life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities.
2.Good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance.
The first definition of luck seems to hint that there is something else out there shaping how events are going to happen, something "throwing the dice for you." Is this really possible? I suppose it depends on your views of the world, I would say that most people who are religious might lean towards this, saying something along the lines of ____(insert higher being/path of life here) willed it, but lets not assume anything.
The second definition is a little more believable, in my view, there is nothing rolling the dice for you, you are in effect rolling the dice. Lets say you succeeded in getting that job at Wendy's Astrophysics, you spent twelve years in college to be able to qualify for such a job, and had a two year internship. You applied for this job knowing that there were others in the field who had eighteen+ years in college and more than five of that as experience. You took a chance, and it paid off. You rolled the dice and and came out with the "Dark Ones Own Luck"(ha, knew I could fit that in somewhere...)
Things happen randomly. I don't really believe in any superstitions, though referencing them is always fun. I don't really believe in luck either.
But as a human I don't know everything, who knows what's out there?
