School Spirit
While I understand why people would have school spirit, saying that you're only in high school once, etc, I don't have school spirit. I think that pep assemblies should be optional. They shouldn't have to force us to sit through a loud, pointless assembly. If we want to be there we will be, but some of us would rather not. On pep assembly days, I'll wear my orange t-shirt and wait out the day, listening to how pumped everyone else is, but when it actually comes time for the assembly, I leave. I hate pep assemblies and school spirit.

ReplyDeleteMy problem with that idea -- you're only in high school once -- is that I didn't like being in high school. Now that I'm out of high school (I know I'm still involved in high school, being a teacher and all, but I'm not IN high school and that makes all the difference), I'm much happier than when I was in high school. I didn't want to live those years to the fullest, I wanted them to go by as quickly as possible. I didn't want to savor every moment. I understand many people do want to love every second of these years, and I envy their happiness (Maybe not envy, since I'm happy too -- maybe admire? Appreciate? Happy=good. Leave it at that.), but not everyone likes it here.
