Cliques, stereotypes, groups, who really cares?

I friggen hate talking about cliques and groupings and all that stuff. To me, you can only be stereotyped by others if you stereotype yourself first. You only belong to one group if you choose to belong to one group. It's all really up to you. I myself don't try to act better then others but I'm not gonna hide the fact that I am in what you guys would call the "popular" group. But I also consider myself friends with all the other groups. I don't care how I am stereotyped and I don't care what everyone thinks. I feel like if everyone else felt the same way we would never have to have this discussion.
