Grades

I think that our class would be given a B if it were to be graded because we usually pay attention but we can get very off subject and then talk a lot.
Personally i would grade myself as a B also because i could pay more attention but overall i do my work and enjoy the class.

Grading topic

I would probably give myself an A, because I did all the projects, homework and did well on the vocab tests. As for the F-451 Final and debating in class-D lol. I regret not following along with Mr. Humphrey while reading or being involved with the discussions of the book. As for the class grade-A, because the class is humorous and enjoyable thanks to the students.

★★★★★ five star class

I was thinking of making the title of my post ¡42! Topic #1 to through people off, but I decided not to.

I would say that this has been my favorite class this year, but last year my favorite class was with Mr. Fuller, so I am assuming that my liking this class has something to do with its being a language arts class. Humphrey's class is not challenging because he assigns pointless homework in excess, but because he actually makes you think, something that other teachers often are not too good at.

To rate myself as a student in the class is something harder too do. I do my homework, listen in class, do the blog post every week, and I love books. I do contribute to the class discussions, although I don't do it as much as when we were covering poetry. Personally I think that Mr. Humphrey should have an entire class devoted to poetry.

Ohhhh, bother.

This class.... it's an alright class I suppose. I'm not going to pretend I didn't hate reading that book out loud. I can't pay attention when it's being read to me. whatever, that is over and done with now anyway.

I probably wasn't that good of a student, paying attention wise, but I passed with a B so I'm okay with that for now, but I am really excited for the things we'll be doing this semester, so this should help.

I love The Secret Life of Bees, book and movie, so I'm looking forward to that.

Topic 15

Ah... time to stop procrastinating.

Topic 15:
I think that most people answered the way that i will, being that they can be good or bad. Them being bad i think does not directly have to do with the video games themselves, but the actions that occur with them (excessive drinking of soda pop, staying up late chugging energy drinks, etc..), albeit i think they can be bad in themselves by excessive playing.
Being a gamer, as i would imagine most of the teenage population is, i can say they can be very good. You can learn a lot from them. I did a speech on this very topic in 8th grade. I pointed out that MMORPG'S(massively multi-player online role playing games) could help you in several different aspects. One of the main ones being interactions and working as a team. In mmorpg's you have to work as group in many situations to be able to conquer what you desire. So you learn valuable skills that way. Another main point from the speech was money management. It could teach you how to save up for things that you want, and realize you need to set some cash aside for necessity's. I could see FPS(first person shooters aka call of duty) gaming being a different story.
Most people who do not game don't realize some of these aspects of gaming. They all seem pretty dead set on the typical stereotypical 27 year old failure living in his mothers basement. I'd bet if some of the people who are against gaming would be sat down and saw some of these things there opinions on this topic might change. But i'm getting off topic now, i say video games (for the most part) are good.

!42! Topic #1

First Topic of the Spring Semester!  Answer due by Monday, February 8

Grade this class. Then grade yourself as a member of the class. Justify both grades.

(If you did not have this class last semester, or don’t want to grade the class) What are your hopes for this class for this semester? What are your intentions as a student?

By the way: I put the "!42!" in the title as a signal that this is the assigned topic for this week, since some people said it was hard to find the official assignment post among all of the people who title their post "Topic #1."  Nobody else is allowed to put "!42!" at the beginning of their post titles.

Remember you can always blog about any random subject that comes to mind, and comments on my posts or those of other students are always welcome.  Please stay polite and respectful at all times.

Here goes

So the semester is finally over, and since I'm so used to always having homework to do, I kind of feel like ripping my hair out. There is absolutely no homework to be done. That seems somehow unfathomable to me. So, as a last resort I will pretend there is blogging I must do, although coincidentally this week, there is none. Figures. No matter, I feel better by doing this already.

So, I just finished reading your blog on the amazing and stupendous "Mt. Saint Helens" (quotes coming into play because we are of course talking of the wonderful new "art" piece just recently added to this lovely town, and not the actual mountain.) And may I just say, thank you.

Of course one thing led to another me being a fan of reading others' blogs I kept on reading. And after reading a few burns on unsuspecting moronic people encountered in your life (though, they did seem pretty deserved) the conclusion I came to is this. I told myself: "Amanda, make a mental note now, never to act dumb enough to end up in this blog." Now that I have a standard to set myself to, may I thank you again. However seeing as when in doubt, books I read seem to articulate better then I myself can, I will let Bastian speak. (Bastian from The Neverending Story of course) "All children aren't like that". Well, at least I hope they're not, or boy do we have a sad next generation in the making.

Oh yes, and this is the rant part of this blog. Why is it, that every time I type the word "aren't" or "wouldn't" It underlines it in red? I wouldn't know considering the word is spelled correctly to my knowledge! But how I loathe that red line!

Well, that seems to have summed it all up. Until I blog again.
