Lier, lier, pants of fire!
Lying has been seen through many eyes; sometimes good, sometimes bad. When can we say the truth is always the right destination? I could lie right now, and say the truth solves all my problems; it doesn't. I feel there are some things, a person can just never know. I think lying comes in handy(in some situations), but when lying takes over your life. You become a lier, and who will trust you? "The truth will set you free." Will it really? I think lying, and honesty depends on trust sometimes. Lying isn't a sin, its just another choice for me... that could lead to good, or bad. Just like honesty.
Do you think there is any way to determine ahead of time which choice might suit a certain situation better -- truth or untruth? Is there a general rule one might follow in choosing one over the other? Nothing definite, of course, but still: any hints?
ReplyDeleteI think a rule someone would want to follow is Think Before You Speak. For example, say a friend asks your opinion on her hair and it looks terrible, tell her the truth , but instead of saying, "What in the world were you thinking? Go fix that rats nest!" Be honest, but not harsh. Also I think if someone tries to remember the last time they lied or was honest in a semi-same situation. They should think, "Now when I lied last time? Didn't that make things worse?" Basically try learning from your mistake before your mouth runs off again, and you end up in a mess again. I hope that makes sense lol.
ReplyDeleteMakes good sense -- I like that rule. Have any examples of a positive lie?
ReplyDeletei agree. lying isnt bad. only if u do 2 much
